Live interviews with a backroom for everyone watching
LetsFindWhy is a video room built for moderated research. Respondents join from a link in the browser and wait in a waiting room until you admit them. Clients and colleagues watch as hidden observers and talk to the moderator in the Backroom chat, which respondents never see. Every session is recorded and transcribed, and live transcription can show each observer the conversation translated into their own language.
Why a general video call falls short
On a general video call, observers sit in the participant list, their names and cameras put respondents on guard, and the only way to pass the moderator a note is a message in another app. The recording, the transcript and the notes then end up in three different places.
A research room keeps observers out of sight, gives them a private channel to the moderator, and files every recording, transcript and quote in the project it belongs to.
How to run a live session in LetsFindWhy
Schedule the session Create a session at a set time and assign the discussion guide. Invited respondents get an email in their timezone with a calendar file attached.
Share a link per role Every session has a separate link for the moderator, the panelists and the observers. Panelists and observers can join as guests with nothing but the link.
Moderate from the guide Show each question, image or whiteboard to the room as you reach it, and check it off. Admit people from the waiting room, mute or remove participants, and approve screen shares before anything is shown.
Debrief straight away The recording and transcript land in the project with a marker at each guide question. Read every respondent’s answer to a question side by side on the Responses page, or ask across sessions with Ask AI.
Tips for better results
- Agree with observers how they will send questions. One Backroom message near the end of each topic is easier to act on than a running commentary.
- Ask respondents to join a few minutes early. The device check and network test catch most problems while they are still in the waiting room.
- Mix live and AI-moderated sessions in one study: lead the first few interviews yourself, then let the AI moderator run the rest from the same guide.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can join a session?
Each plan sets how many people can be on camera and how many can observe. Business allows four on camera, a moderator and three respondents, plus four observers. Enterprise allows 25 of each, enough for a full focus group.
Do respondents need to install anything?
No. Respondents join in the browser from their link, with no account or download, and check their camera, microphone and connection before they enter.
Can respondents see the observers?
No. Observers never share a camera or microphone and do not appear in the participant list respondents see. They reach the moderator through the Backroom chat.
